Yana Caves is a famous natural rock formation and pilgrimage destination located in the Sahyadri hills of Karnataka. Situated around 38 km from Sirsi, Yana is well known for its massive black limestone rock structures that rise sharply from the dense forests of the Western Ghats. The two main peaks are called Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and Mohini Shikhara, which are associated with Hindu mythology and attract thousands of devotees every year.
The caves contain a natural Shiva Lingam inside the Bhairaveshwara peak, making the place spiritually important for pilgrims. Visitors reach the caves through a scenic trekking path surrounded by thick greenery, streams, and diverse wildlife. The region is rich in biodiversity and forms part of the Western Ghats ecosystem.
Yana is also popular among trekkers, photographers, and nature lovers because of its peaceful environment and unique geological formations. The best time to visit is from October to March, while the monsoon season offers beautiful misty landscapes and lush greenery.
